4 Reasons to Keep Praising God… even after Thanksgiving.

christian living Nov 25, 2023

Humans Have a difficult Time Praising God...

Not because Praising is Difficult, but because we often think more about ourselves than about God.

I will praise any man that will praise me. —
William Shakespeare

This is how many people live their lives… they will praise things

  • iPhones
  • Cars
  • Brands

But often our praise is very selfish.

We praise things that benefit us in some carnal way...

But Should that be?

Of course not!!

Psalm 9:1–2 (KJV 1900)
I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart;
I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.
I will be glad and rejoice in thee:
I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High.

I love that… David Consciously decides that HE WIll praise the Lord...

And I think we should do the same...

Consciously choose to praise the Lord...

And David gives us 4 good Reasons why

Let's grab a cup of coffee this Thanksgiving week and see 4 reasons we should praise the Lord Consciously.

Reason 1: Praise God Because He defeated your Enemy

Psalm 9:3 KJV 1900

When mine enemies are turned back,

They shall fall and perish at thy presence.
Psalm 9:15–17 KJV 190
The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made:

In the net which they hid is their own foot taken.

The Lord is known by the judgment which he executeth:

The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands.

Higgaion. Selah.

The wicked shall be turned into hell,

And all the nations that forget God.

Friend, Some think this song was written by David after killing Goliath... And David is Praising God for the Victory!

What a perspective...

Many of us would have prayed to God for the Victory before...

but then praised our personal wisdom and prowess with the victory...

But David was consistent… He knew that God had been the one to give Him the Victory.

Friend… Did you know that God has already defeated your greatest enemies?

Who Am I Talking about...

  • First: your old self
  • Second: Satan and His Demons
  • Third: Death

These are tremendous reasons to praise!

Thank you God!

You defeated my enemies!!

Psalm 9:3–6 (KJV 1900)
When mine enemies are turned back,
They shall fall and perish at thy presence.
For thou hast maintained my right and my cause;
Thou satest in the throne judging right.
Thou hast rebuked the heathen, thou hast destroyed the wicked,
Thou hast put out their name for ever and ever.
O thou enemy, destructions are come to a perpetual end:
And thou hast destroyed cities;
Their memorial is perished with them.

Friend, take time to thank God for the enemies He has defeated!

Reason 2: Praise God Because He will Never Stop Judging Righteously

Psalm 9:7–8 KJV 1900
But the Lord shall endure for ever:
He hath prepared his throne for judgment.
And he shall judge the world in righteousness,
He shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness.

Friend, this world is crazy...

And often justice is not served.

The perp goes free while the victim suffers..

And it is sad to see Bad people exalted as Heroes… and good People Demonized.

But David recognized… even though humans aren’t just… God is still a just God… and ultimate Justice will be served!

IF not in this life… than in the next.

Friend, Wrongs will be made right...

God has not left the throne...

Don’t despair feeling like all the injustices will win...

God will judge justly...

Trust Him...

Praise Him

Reason 3: Praise God because He takes care of the Oppressed

Psalm 9:9 KJV 1900
The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed,
A refuge in times of trouble.
Psalm 9:12 KJV 1900
When he maketh inquisition for blood, he remembereth them:
He forgetteth not the cry of the humble.
Psalm 9:18 KJV 1900
For the needy shall not alway be forgotten:
The expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever.
  • Friend, God sees the lowly
  • God sees the downcast
  • God sees the fatherless
  • God sees the pained
  • God sees the needy
  • God sees the Humble
  • God sees the Oppressed (like really oppressed)

And He will care for them!

Friend, no matter what you are going through...

No matter how hard your life is at this moment...

No matter how someone has mistreated you...

Remember...

God cares for you!

Reason 4: Praise God Because He won’t Forsake You

Psalm 9:10 KJV 1900
And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee:
For thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

I love this verse so much!!

• When you know that God cares

• When you know that God is the Final Just Judge

• When you know that God will and has defeated your enemies...

When you know God… Then you choose to trust Him...

And you know He won’t forsake you.

Psalm 9:10 KJV 1900
And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee:
For thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

Friend, is this you?

Do you know God?

Do you seek Him?

Then Choose to trust Him today!

• With all your heartaches

• All your burdens

• All your future

Trust Him!

Because you know Him...

And may we never stop praising His NAME!!
